Why we need Finnish Through New Eyes

Traditional methods of learning Finnish are failing us and we need a new paradigm of learning: one that’s fun & feels good, that’s centered around our needs as individuals and which integrates learning in our lives (vs. leaving it exclusively in the classroom). I cover this, and much more, in this here video:
– What does seeing Finnish through new eyes look like?
– What does it ask us to leave behind?
– And how do we get there?

I have some good news and some bad news. Let’s start with the bad…

The Bad News

Our traditional methods of learning Finnish are failing us. Too many of us intending to speak Finnish are trying and failing. We might see some progress, get to a new-and-slightly-improved level, but in the end, we fall short of our goals.

Over time, we start to settle for this lower-than-necessary level, thinking this is how it has to be.

The worst part? Many of us think that it’s our fault and that we’re to blame. (And when people reach this conclusion in large numbers, I start to lose my marbles.) Something needs to be done.

I’d like to propose an alternative story. What if you never failed? What if instead, the methods and approaches you used to learn failed you? And that in far too many cases, the these were always going to fail us, because they’re based on antiquated models of learning and faulty assumptions about how we learn. It’s frustrating, but it’s true.

So enter the good news…

The Good News

You are every bit as capable of learning Finnish to the level you want as you were before, as I am, and as we all can. It’s time to claim this ability as your own.

The best part? I’ve put together an epic program to guide you through this process. It involves a new way of seeing things, so it’s dubbed: Finnish Through New Eyes.

But before we get to the program, it’s fair to ask:

  • What’s seeing Finnish through old eyes mean?
  • What are those faulty assumptions & antiquated ways of learning (that I may not even be aware of)?
  • What does seeing Finnish through new eyes mean?
  • And how will we walk between where we are and where we want to be?

I’m so glad you ask, because this is exactly what I cover in today’s video.

Plus, I’ll walk you through the 6 modules covered in FTNE so you can start to think about your own approach to learning and where your greatest opportunities lie.

If you’d like to join me for Finnish Through New Eyes in May/June, you can find details & registration here.

Hi! I’m Irina.

I’m a multibelonger to Finland, Canada and Romania, without ONE language or culture to call my own – I have several. My intention is to be present where I am and find inner peace and harmony where ever life takes me. I’m embracing the gems of the ongoing cultural and linguistic transition which is my life and hope to inspire others interested in doing the same. Click here to find out more!
